Golddiggers Minutes of 1/7/99

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM.

Present were Ken Welle, Dan McDonell, Mark Eastom, Patty Bloom, John Oravis, Ted Fleener, Nao Ikeda, Gary Allman, Keith Carlson, and Bruce Kvam.

Banquet Preparations

Most of the tasks have been completed. Sarah Pearman will be the emcee and will be responsible for finding the video editor.

The senior gift has been purchased.

All board members should arrive at 10:00 AM to complete final preparations.

Reports

The minutes and treasurer's report were accepted without change. Keith and John attended the quarterly booster club seminar and picked up some pamphlets describing the rules for booster club members with regard to the NCAA.

The board authorized expenditure of up to $1,000 for the purchase of jackets/apparel for the team, as was done the last two years. Nao subsequently informed us afterward that no such mementos were in the works.

Board Vacancies

Several positions on the Board of Directories will be freeing up this year, after long and distinguished service from several members. Patty Bloom is moving on to other interests, as is KC Reiners. Keith Carlson is moving to Wisconsin. David Bauer as also moved out of the Twin Cities area, but will remain on the board.

John Oravis will look into recruiting the parents of Minnesota players help fill the vacancies.

The following functions are becoming vacant and must be filled, along with the person who formerly filled the position:

Patty will transfer the computer records for the newsletter and membership lists to Mark, Bruce and John.

Other Booster Clubs

Mark Eastom received financial and membership information from Chris Wolfe at Michigan State. Anyone interested in the details can query Mark at meastom@freemind.net

Coach's Comments

Nao explained the rather complex NCAA rules for training in the off season. Teams are allowed to train 22 weeks per year, for 20 hours per week. Sixteen weeks are required for the season, leaving six weeks for the off-season.This training will take place between March 1 and March 14, and March 29-April 25.

The Spring tournaments will take place on Saturdays in April. The schedule is very much up in the air, but possibilities include:

The date for the Minnesota tournament is fairly solid.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:13. The next meeting will be held Monday, February 22, 1999, at 7:00 PM in the Club Room of the Sports Pavilion.
