The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM in the Williams Arena Club Room.
Attending: John Oravis, John Thompson, DuAnn Thompson, Jerry Byrnes, Larry Mickelson, Peggy Kvam, Joy Cipperly, Wayne Miller, Nao Ikeda and Jill Pearson.
The minutes from the last meeting of 6/15/04 were reviewed and approved.
The treasurer's report for the Golddiggers Booster Club financial activity was reviewed and approved.
The booster club already has 52 memberships of various levels for 2004. This is more than usual pre-season, which we expected with the early-renewal incentive award 2003 highlights video.
Gopher volleyball alumni have been in the news lately, as they continue their volleyball pursuits. Kelli Wicks joined Idaho State as assistant coach of the Bengals volleyball team. The Gophers will play Idaho State on September 3rd at the Wyoming Tourney. Lisa Axel has been named assistant coach of the Bisons of North Dakota State. And congratulations to Lindsey Berg on being named to the USA National Team going to the Olympics in Athens in August.
Tim Reckmeyer has accepted the position of volunteer coach, replacing Dennis Amundson who will be going to St. Thomas.
Golddigger clothing orders are now being accepted. Samples of the shirts will be on display at the First Practice Dinner on August 11th.
The 2003 Highlights video will be in VHS tape format. They are expected to be ready on August 2.
The First Practice Dinner has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 11 at 6:30 PM. Golddiggers are welcome to view the practice in the Sports Pavilion starting at 5:15 PM. Cost is $10/person or $25/family.
A Golddiggers Picnic will not be held. The board made and approved a motion to hold a Saturday post-game reception at the Diet Coke Tournament instead. This reception will be on Saturday, September 11 following the 7:00 PM Minnesota vs. Florida match. The reception plan is pending coaching staff approval, considering there is a match the following day.

There will not be a pass list at the NACWAA tournament on August 27-28. Reserve tickets in a Minnesota section are available for purchase if you plan to attend.
Season ticket holders have made several complaints about 2004 season ticket ordering confusion. If you have problems, contact Ron Lynch. He's been very successful at resolving the issues.
The coaching staff is considering a DVD Club to make scouting tapes of the Gopher matches available to Golddigger members. Nao Ikeda will handle the duplicating and sales. The Golddiggers need only enjoy this additional incentive to join the booster club. The Golddigers board had no objections to this program, and in fact were very interested.
A proposed 2004 budget was presented by the Treasurer, John Thompson. It is based on 2003. John noted that it is missing about $500 in memberships, but otherwise is his best estimate. The Initial Balance is $5300 and the End Balance is $2875 in the plan. This is a very good end balance.
John Oravis discussed booster club fund raising by other University clubs. Women's basketball holds a golf tournament, and promotes a $1000 club. The board was asked to consider ways that we might increase fund raising with a goal to fund or even endow a volleyball scholarship.
2004 season posters and schedules have been distributed to volleyball venues around the Twin Cities. Note that the match against Illinois on October 16 is scheduled in Williams Arena, to attract a huge crowd. The current schedule is posted at the Golddigger website, http://www.golddigger-boosters.org/.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM.
The next meeting date will be in September or October.
