Attending: John Oravis, John Thompson, DuAnn Thompson, Mark Eastom, Peggy Kvam, Bruce Kvam, Gary Allman, Sarah Leach, Ellie Leach, Nao Ikeda, Janet Cobbs Mulholland, Mike Hebert, Brian Heffernan and Carol Heffernan.
The meeting was called to order at 7:02. The first topic was the Coaches Corner which is not a recorded item.
The minutes of April 5, 2000 were approved. The treasurer's report was also approved.
New expenses were the Spring Tournament lunch. New deposits were two Coaches Club memberships for the 2000 season. John Oravis contributed congratulatory flowers on behalf of the Golddiggers Booster Club to Yvonne Van Oort for the birth of her son, Niklas Loren.
There are three Coaches Club members for the 2000 season as of the meeting date. The Golddiggers Booster Club renewal notice will be mailed to previous members at the end of June. New promotions this season will be: Mike Hebert's camps, Hot Stuff ad, August Coaches Clinic and Diet Coke Tournament.
The Golddiggers continue to be interested in sponsoring a Border Battle travelling trophy. John Oravis took the action to seek approval from the Athletic Department.
Thank you to Mark Eastom who is sponsoring a memorial plaque for Assistant Coach Maurice Batie. This is planned to be presented at the August Alumni Match and the Diet Coke Classic. The wording is still being written.
Thank you to DuAnn Thompson and all the others who helped and contributed food to the Spring Tournament. The lunch was delicious and appreciated by all.
Creative Charters has been contacted to plan a fan Road Trip to the Michigan games the weekend of October 20-22. There was some discussion about the difficulty of finding hotel rooms due to it also being a football weekend. It was decided to move forward on this trip.
The 2000 season budget was reviewed. A discussion was held on the souvenir clothing merchandise that remains from past years. John Oravis will inventory it. It was suggested that it be sold to members at a discount.
There will be four home receptions on Saturday nights. It was decided there will not be a reception at the Diet Coke Classic on 9/16 because it is expected to run quite late.
A social to meet the team at the first practice date of 8/11 is under consideration.
The summer picnic is proposed to be at the deck and club room of the new softball stadium. Members are encouraged to think of some activity to encourage mixing.
There are several board vacancies: Vice President, Student Representative and Banquet Lead. Ted Fleener will be a Friend of the Board. The current board members were approved for the 2000 season.
The next meeting will be July 12, 2000 at 7:00 in the Club Room of the Sports Pavilion.
