The September 19th meeting of the Golddigger’s Booster Club was called to order by President Larry Mickelson at 7:02 pm. Those present were Larry Mickelson, Betty Cipperly, Sharon & Dave Manninen, JT & DuAnn Thompson, Nao Ikeda, Coach Hebert, Jessica Burns & Lon Ortner. Betty brought awesome treats – the treat bar is set pretty high.

Secretary’ Report

There was a slight correction to the minutes of the last meeting: Jerry Burns is still technically a Board member – but not an officer. Betty is the new Vice President. A motion was made by Dave to accept the minutes and seconded by Betty.

Treasurer’s Report

JT reported that he has made $5500 in deposits and has written no checks. That leaves a balance of about $6506.98. Locker room pending activity is $115. We spent approximately $500 on the DVD’s. Betty motioned to accept the report and Dave seconded.

OLD BUSINESS

Membership Report

There was a slight discrepancy in the membership number – JT has 69 and Sharon has 71. We will resolve that issue in the next couple of days.

Wisconsin Trip

The bus trip to Wisconsin will be on November 25th. JT has a quote of $40 per person (plus the cost of a ticket @ $5.00). That is quoted on at least 37 people riding the bus. We can get another and/or bigger bus if the numbers dictate that action. Non- Golddigger’s will be charged $5.00 additional. We will ask non-members to pay up front and the rest to have money to JT by November 1. JT included a form in membership packets for Golddigger boosters. All agreed that this trip is a fun time.

Receptions

DuAnn reported that we have 5 receptions left – 6 if we host a final game. Things are going well with her “angels” and she has some new people helping out this year.

Merchandise

Betty reported that the Golddigger items have been promised by the 20th so she can have them to distribute at the game on the 21st. She has been having an issue getting responses from Dave Dover. Will we do another order? We will only do that if there is a big enough response. She a few things ordered to have on hand. We will mention ordering again at the Sunday (September 23rd reception.

NEW BUSINESS

Nao, Larry and JT attended a compliance meeting. Compliance is not necessarily complicated but it is cumbersome. Golddigger’s are not to talk to any recruits or their parents. Recruits cannot take part in any “official” booster activities. They may attend a reception but can only “be” there and there can be no volleyball “recruitment” talk at all.

Newsletter

Larry is doing the newsletter and anyone who would like to add something is invited to do so through him.

Other New

Board status of Anton Halverson? He has not attended any meetings this year nor the last 3 of last year. By-laws state that members are dropped if they miss 3 or more meetings in succession. He is also no longer a U of M student. Larry entertained a motion that he be dropped. Betty made the motion and JT seconded. Larry will let him know.

Alumni Position

Jessica Burns was at the meeting this week. It looks like she and Meredith Nelson are willing to share the position so that we have an alum on the Board. Having a former player on the Board will be a plus for all.

Chalk Talks

There are 3 scheduled – they are yet to be announced.

Socials

We received a flyer for two socials to be held at Sally’s for away games. They are always a good time and a good chance to watch those games.

Nao

Nao mentioned that if we need to attend Wm’s Arena events we need to use the daily entrance and have a volleyball game ticket to get in there AND to get back into the Sports Pavillion for the game. Wear your Booster name tag also. She also mentioned that she thinks this may be the last year that Manship’s will be in charge of the ball girls. Another set of parents will need to be recruited for that position. It would be nice to have someone who could work with Manship’s for a transition time.

Next meeting date will be November 5th at 7:00 pm.

A motion was made by Dave to adjourn and JT seconded the motion. ( Motion was passed although Larry wasn’t ready to be done for the evening.)
